What you'll accomplish
A full wedding import can run 3,000 to 4,000 frames, and clicking through every one of them for blur, closed eyes and duplicates costs a photographer roughly 4 hours per event. Aftershoot scores every frame for you and hands back a shortlist to review, so that 4 hour pass turns into a 20 to 30 minute check of its picks before you move into editing.
What you'll need
Aftershoot connects to your existing Lightroom Classic or Capture One catalog rather than replacing it.
What you should see: A confirmation that Aftershoot found your catalog software and can see your library of imported shoots. Troubleshooting: If the plugin does not detect your catalog, check that Lightroom Classic or Capture One is fully updated and that you are logged into the same user account you used during installation.
What you should see: A progress indicator while Aftershoot analyzes sharpness, exposure, blinks, duplicates and composition across the shoot. Troubleshooting: Large weddings can take a while to process on a first run. Let it finish rather than closing the app midway, since an interrupted scan can leave a shoot half scored.
What you should see: A shortlist noticeably smaller than your full import, typically a large fraction cut, with each surviving frame carrying a rating or flag you can still override. Troubleshooting: If the tool consistently favors a frame you would not pick, check whether you have flagged your key subjects (the couple, the honoree) so the scoring weights their expressions more heavily.
This is the step that matters most. Aftershoot is fast, but it does not know your client's specific requests or the moment you personally saw and want in the gallery.
What you should see: A final cull that matches what you would have produced by hand, just arrived at in a fraction of the time. Troubleshooting: If you are correcting the same type of miss on every shoot (a certain lighting condition, a certain pose), that is useful feedback. Some settings let you flag those corrections so future scoring adjusts.
What you should see: Your catalog filtered down to the exact frames you approved, ready for editing with nothing extra mixed in. Troubleshooting: If ratings do not sync, confirm the plugin connection from Step 1 is still active and reconnect it if the catalog software was updated since installation.
