What you'll accomplish
A website that has not been touched in years, with a blank meta description field and copy nobody remembers writing, quietly costs you local search traffic every month. Squarespace's built-in AI tools draft page copy and blog posts from a short prompt and flag exactly which SEO fields are empty, so updating your site stops being the blank-page problem it has been.
What you'll need
What you should see: Your normal page editor with the text block selected and ready to edit. Troubleshooting: If you cannot find an AI writing option in the toolbar, check that your plan includes Squarespace's AI features, since some legacy plans predate them.
What you should see: A draft appear in the text block, ready to edit directly on the page. Troubleshooting: If the draft reads generic or overstates something about your business (an award you have not actually won, a turnaround time you do not really offer), rewrite that line yourself before publishing. Never let an AI-drafted claim about your business go live unchecked.
What you should see: A report listing each page and what SEO field is missing, with a way to generate and insert a suggestion for each one. Troubleshooting: If a generated meta description mentions a service area or specialty you do not actually offer, correct it before saving. A meta description that overpromises brings in the wrong inquiries.
What you should see: A structured blog post draft with a title, intro and body, ready for your edits and images. Troubleshooting: If the draft invents a detail (a location, a couple's name, a season) that you did not provide, remove or correct it rather than leaving a guess in a published post.
What you should see: A summary report showing your current visibility and a short list of suggestions. Troubleshooting: Treat this report as a directional signal, not a guarantee. Search and AI answer behavior changes often, so recheck periodically rather than treating one report as final.
